Mark Colonna, DDS

Dr. Mark P. Colonna is a 1983 graduate of Loyola University School of Dentistry. He has been in private practice since 1983, and has held positions as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Operative Dentistry at Loyola University School of Dentistry from 1983-1992. He moved to Whitefish, Montana in 1992, and opened his practice there. He then established the Montana Center for Laser Dentistry in Whitefish, Montana in January 2002. Dr. Colonna lectures, and teaches nationally, and internationally on laser dentistry, and has published articles in various well-known dental journals on this topic.

Dr. Colonna is the first dentist in the world to use the laser technology to prepare teeth for full crowns, and porcelain veneers using only the laser, without the use of drills, and the need for local anesthesia. His  treatment philosophy is to perform the most minimally invasive dentistry he can, utilizing the Waterlase dental laser, and the dental instruments he has developed to eliminate the use of drills in his practice. He is currently working on other pioneering procedures in laser dentistry, and actively training new laser users in his Waterlase Training Seminars, LLC Courses. 

Dr. Colonna is a member of the American Dental Association, Montana Dental Association, a founding member of the  World Clinical Laser Institute, a lifetime member of The World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Laser Dentistry.

Dr. Colonna received the 2003-04 Clinician of the Year award from the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry.  This award acknowledges his work towards the advancement of minimally invasive dentistry. Dr. Colonna has also received Mastership Status Certification in the use of the Waterlase Dental Laser from the World Clinical Laser Institute in Jan. 2004. It is the highest laser certification available.
